So a lot of young women left their already broken lives behind and went to Iceland, many of them stayed forever. Some of them tell their stories in this book. I had actually never heard of this before and found it really interesting. Short personal stories, that give an insight , shortely after WW2, Iceland started a initiative to bring German women to Iceland for a year, to work at the farms.
